About the Program
An academic program designed to prepare specialists with comprehensive knowledge and the right skills required to serve the local and international community. With a total of 160 credit hours that are divided into 71 courses in 8 levels (semesters).
Eligibility and Admission Requirements
For Non-Saudis knowledge seekers, from all over the world. General Secondary School Certificate or equivalent is required. The secondary school certificate should be issued by a public school or any school recognized by the Islamic University. Any other requirements specified by the University and announced at the time of issuance. The applicant’s certificate’s grades may be used for classification and selection of applicants.
Required documents can be uploaded after signing in to the registered account. Documents verification and approval may be requested.
Medium of Instruction
The medium of instruction and assessment is Arabic. Arabic is not a prerequisite for admission, but it is a requirement for the enrolment. Without proof of Arabic language proficiency, the admission to the program will be conditional, and enrolment will be permissible if and only if further Arabic-language training is successfully completed.
Study Duration
Full-Time
Not less than 8 semesters, and not more than 12 semesters, of full-time study. For a full-time student, the minimum academic load is 13 credit hours, and the maximum load is 20 credit hours per semester; taking into account the approved duration of the study.
Part-Time
Not less than 13 semesters, and not more than 20 semesters, of part-time study. For a part-time student, the minimum academic load is 8 credit hours, and the maximum load is 13 credit hours per semester; taking into account the approved duration of the study.
It is possible to change from the Bachelor of Sharia (Distance Learning) to on-campus at Islamic University in Madinah, after completing some of the program’s 8 levels, according to the university’s rules and regulations (to be announced at the time of issuance).
Tuition Fees
The application processing fee is SR 100 (non-refundable), which has to be paid upon completing the online application and submitting the required documents. The tuition fee is SAR 100 per credit hour, which has to be paid during course enrollment. The total fee for the semester or the program can be estimated through (credit hour fee x total number of registered hours).
Payments can be made online, through any credit card that supports 3D Secure.
The fee has been applied to cover some of the programs’ operational expenses, and to ensure the programs’ sustainability and continuity, and to provide quality educational services.
Registration and Application Process
- Register by clicking “Apply Now” and activate the account through the link sent to the e-mail entered in the registration form.
- Log in via the “Sign in” button and submit an application for the Bachelor of Sharia (Distance Learning) by filling up the online form and submitting the required documents, then proceed to pay the application processing fee.
The applications are promptly processed. The aim is to enable the admitted applicants to enroll in the forthcoming semester if the complete application is submitted at least 30 days before the starting of the semester. Assessment of the Application can result in:
- Acceptance
- Conditional acceptance; pending proof of Arabic language proficiency
- Rejection; Secondary School Certificate did not meet the equivalency standards of Islamic University
- Rejection; documents could not be verified
- Rejection; incomplete documents
- Rejection; not meeting general requirements.
Status of the application can be seen by signing in to the registered account; or via notification email on the application status, after processing the application. Please note that email inquiries on the application status could not be entertained.
Start of Classes
For newly admitted students, the course enrollment starts after the admission notification. The classes start at the forthcoming standard semester according to the Academic Calendar. For enrolled students, the course enrollment begins after the announcement of the final results of the semester. The course enrollment period lasts until the end of the first week of the semester.
The student account is activated with access to the Learning Management System (LMS). The LMS and other related students’ e-services are accessible after signing in to the registered account.
Exams
To make the examination process more comprehensive, easy, and simple for the students, the Islamic University adopts several examination mechanisms, without compromising the quality, credibility, or authenticity of the exams. Examination mechanisms include but not limited to Examination at the main campus of the Islamic University, Examination at one of the approved test centers, proctored Examination, and electronically-monitored Examination. Policies, procedures, and requirements for each mechanism will be announced in due course.
Degree
Bachelor’s degree of Sharia, from the Islamic University in Madinah. “Online” may be indicated on the Academic transcripts or/and the Certificate. The degree shall not be conferred until all the data and documents of the graduating student have been verified.

About the University
The Islamic University of Madinah (Arabic: الجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة المنورة) was founded in 1961 in Madina. It received institutional academic accreditation without exceptions from the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment in April 2017.
University students may study Sharia, Qur’an, Usul al-din, Hadith, and Arabic. The university offers Bachelor of Arts degrees and also Master’s and Doctorate Degrees. Studies at the College of Sharia Islamic law were the first to start when the university opened. The admission is open to Muslims based on scholarship programs that provide accommodation and living expenses. The university also provides an “Arabic Language for Non-Native speaker” Institute for those who do not have a basic level of Arabic. In 2012, the university opened science colleges.
