Update (12-03-20): Alhumdulillah, another 10 cartons of 145kg, containing old/used/spare clothes/shoes/bags/toys, etc. were sent to Pakistan on 9th February 2020. The cargo cost of SAR 548.1 was collected. Those cartons have reached Pakistan on 10th March 2020. JazakAllah khair for your contributions.

Update (20-12-19): Alhumdulillah, all 39 cartons containing old/used/spare clothes/shoes/bags/toys, etc. reached Pakistan on 12th December 2019. As per the msgs from my father, the items were of very good quality and there were enough clothes, shoes and toys that it had taken them 8 days to distribute around 80% of the items. Daily from 9am to 10pm, around 50 to 60 people (men/women/children) came to collect and benefitted from the items. The items were segregated based on the type, size and gender and were given to all underprivileged according to their needs to avoid any misuse.

This time the distribution has been done in totally new people as the previous ones had enough items from the distributions of the previous years. A few people even inquired on why we were donating almost new clothes of such high quality and leading brands. They were explained that these were from donors outside Pakistan. They were extremely happy and thankful to the donors.

There were more than 30 Abayas, half of those were donated to Al-Huda International Welfare Foundation, Multan, where many girls students, learning Quran, wanted to wear an abaya but were unable to afford it due to financial constraints. The remaining were donated to underprivileged women who regularly wear abayas. Abaya is an expensive item in Pakistan and people are unable to afford it thus the women/girls who received abayas were very thankful to the donors.

My father is very thankful to all the donors and is very happy that Allah has chosen us for this deed. JazakAllah khair for your contributions. Compilation of the feedback messages received from my father in the Urdu Language is as follows:

Update (21-11-19): Alhumdulillah 1,389 kg (39 cartons) of old/used/spare clothes/shoes/bags/toys, etc. have been sent to Pakistan by Cargo via Ship on 15th November. After further packing, the cargo was loaded for the container on 16th November. The total cost of the cargo was SR 5,468, which has been arranged, jazakAllah khair for your contributions.

Like the previous 3 years, I am planning to send old/used/spare clothes/shoes/bags/toys, etc. to Pakistan for charity inshaAllah.

Background

I have come across many people in KSA who would like to do such charity but they find difficulty in managing cargo for small quantities and managing proper distribution among needy/underprivileged. I will inshaAllah send all contributions together via sea cargo, using Shama Cargo Service. The distribution among needy will be managed by my father and mother.

Residents of Riyadh

If you would like to contribute anything then plz drop it at my apt/office by Saturday, 9th November 2019. You can contribute stuff in simple shopping bags as proper packing will be done by the cargo service. Plz don’t hesitate to donate the items which need repair as those items will be repaired in Pakistan.

If you would like to contribute to the Cargo Cost then last year it was: SR 3.88/kg (registration + receipt + packing + door-to-door service). If you can donate big boxes or packing tapes then it will help in reducing the packing cost.

Outside Riyadh/KSA

You can contribute to this project in the following ways:

  • You can contribute to the Cargo Cost, it will enable us to help the maximum number of needy/underprivileged. Even a contribution of $10 can help us distribute up to 10kg of clothes/shoes/school bags etc. Donations can be made through any of the following channels:
  • You can start a similar initiative at your place, you just have to collect the donated items and send them at the given address. My parents will inshaAllah manage the storing, sorting, repair and distribution among needy/underprivileged.

I guess we need to do a compaign with this segment as well. They are source where all all shoes and bags get repaired if they know about this initiative they will definitely collect some stuff, In shah Allah.”
