The following message is from my cousin’s friend, who lives in Rawalpindi and has been in contact with these families:
Due to heavy rains in Chiniot at the start of October 2020, a landslide destroyed four houses with 20 residents on 3rd October 2020. The families living in those houses were injured and they lost their houses and everything in it. Two of those families also lost their rickshaws, which was their only source of income. These families were provided initial medical care but so far they have not received any additional support from the relevant authorities in getting back their stuff or houses, buried under the large rocks of the landslide. They have been sleeping outside with small children, where the temperature is getting colder every day. This incident has been covered by various news channels as well.
My cousin’s friend has been working for these families since the incident occurred. She has arranged and sent them old clothes and donations for ration and basic necessities. A local landlord has allocated them with five marla plots so that they can build their houses again. The estimated cost of building a house with one room, one kitchen and one bathroom is Rs 300,000. She is arranging a house for them on rent for three months. She has also arranged a used rickshaw for one of those families so that they can resume their income. They are looking for financial support to arrange a used rickshaw for the other family, which will cost Rs 60,000 (SAR 1,388). Any additional support will also be very helpful for these families.
We have also sought support from Shaban E Khatme Nabuwat Welfare Trust and Baitussalam Welfare Trust for the houses of these families. Correspondence with these two organizations is underway. Shaban E Khatme Nabuwat Welfare Trust has also visited the location on 17th October 2020.
If you would like to donate any money then it will be transferred to my cousin’s friend’s bank account. Donations can be made through any of the following channels:
- In cash to me
- Via STC Pay (Instructions)
- In my KSA Bank Account
- In my Pakistani Bank Account
- Via PayPal – https://paypal.me/urShadow
