[Completed] – Request for Donations for Buying Tailoring Equipment for a Disabled Person in Mitru, Mailsi

The following message is from my friend, who lives in Multan and has been helping this disabled person:

This is a 28 years old disabled person. He has old parents and five sisters. He had been working as a truck driver since the age of 20 and was able to support his family but in November 2017, he had a severe accident where he lost his one leg and the truck was majorly damaged. Saddique Welfare Trust helped him and paid Rs 1,800,000 to his employer for the repair of the truck. They also paid Rs 500,000 for his medical treatment. They also set up a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 for him to buy ration, etc.

My friend’s father arranged tailoring training for him in Mitru, where he used to earn around Rs 60 per day. The disabled person’s father was also earning thus they were able to support their family but in March 2018, the father got paralyzed. They lost that source of income and they spent all of their money on the treatment and medicine of the father, to the extent that they sold most of their household items.

Still, they were trying to manage but recently the tailoring shop, where the disabled person was employed, has shifted to Multan and thus he lost that source of income as well. He tried to buy a used sewing machine for around Rs 4,500 to work on his own. He approached my friend for Rs 1,300 as he was short of money to buy the used sewing machine. My friend gave him that amount but the sewing machine, which looked fine from the outside, didn’t work well and thus he lost that investment.

The situation of the disabled person’s house is that they don’t have bedsteads (char pai) to sleep and the weather is getting colder every day. They don’t have enough cooking utensils to cook food.

My friend is trying to arrange a tailor shop for the disabled person. As one of the sisters of the disabled person also knows tailoring work, my friend has arranged a collaboration with a big tailoring shop, who sublet their big orders, like school uniform orders, etc. to such small tailors. A roadside restaurant has provided him a room at rent to set up a tailoring shop. My friend has given him Rs 5,000 for paying to the restaurant as an advance payment. My friend has also arranged a used cutting counter, sewing machine stand and wall cabinet for Rs 10,000. My friend has also arranged two bedsteads (char pai) for old parents and my friend’s father has provided them with medicine and ration, etc.

They are looking for financial support of Rs 70,350 (SAR 1,627) for the following items so that the family can support themselves on their own. He is also eligible for Zakat.
