Update (13-07-20): Alhumdulillah, the required Rs 109,000 have been collected, a donor has sent an additional Rs 25,000 thus a total of Rs 134,000 have been collected and transferred to my cousin’s friend’s account. Message from a cousin in Rawalpindi:
He was Imam Masjid in Muslim Town, Rawalpindi for the past 8 years. He was a patient of diabetes (sugar). Due to complications in diabetes, one of his legs got infected and had to be removed in stages. Due to this disability, he couldn’t continue Imamat in Masjid, which was his only source of income. My friend’s mother’s house is in Muslim Town thus she knows this Imam Masjid personally but was not in touch for a while. When her husband visited him last Friday (10th July 2020), we found out that he was in a very bad financial situation. He recently had surgery and was bedridden. He is required to get the dressing/bandage of his wound replaced every day, which is done by a compounded, who visits him every day. One of his kidneys is also affected.
He took a debt of Rs 40,000 to get his surgery done in a government hospital. The procedure was free of cost in the government hospital but he had to pay for all medicine and dressing. In addition to that, he is in a debt of Rs 49,000 of the pharmacy for his medicine, daily change of dressing and compounder. My friend has arranged a small rented house for this family near Car Chowk, Rawalpindi for Rs 10,000 per month. Once his wound heals, my friend will also try to arrange a prosthetic leg for him.
He has a wife and three school-going sons and no source of income at the moment. We are looking for financial support to pay off his debts and to arrange for his medicine and dressing. A total amount of Rs 109,000 (SAR 2,534) is required for the following, he is also eligible for Zakat:
- Rs 40,000 to pay off the debt for the surgery
- Rs 49,000 to pay off the previous bills of the pharmacy
- Rs 20,000 for future medicine/dressing/bandage
